How you Contribute

As a DevOps Engineer at Emesent, you will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and optimising the infrastructure, automation pipelines, and tooling that support our engineering teams. You’ll leverage your expertise in containerisation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS to ensure our build and test environments are efficient, scalable, and reliable.

You will work closely with software engineers and IT to improve build performance, enhance observability, and ensure our systems operate securely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

- Containerization, Orchestration & CI/CD

Containerization, Orchestration & CI/CD

- Experience in designing, building, and optimising Docker containers (Linux and Windows), including multi-stage and multi-architecture builds.
- Familiarity with container orchestration and networking technologies to support scalable build environments.
- Proficient in managing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Experience with source control and CI/CD platform migrations, including hybrid on-prem and cloud-based build environments.

Version Control, IaC & Automation

- Strong understanding of Git workflows and versioning strategies for managing code and infrastructure.
- Previous experience with Bitbucket,GitHub or GitLab in collaborative development environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CDK, Ansible, or similar tools for environment provisioning and configuration management.
- Proficient in developing automation scripts and tools in Python, Bash, and PowerShell to automate processes

Cloud, Virtualisation, Storage & Networking

- Experience in managing AWS cloud infrastructure and VMware vSphere virtualisation platforms.
- Experience in migratingsystems from on-premises to cloud environments.
- Understanding of networking technologies, protocols, and security best practices.
- Previous experience managing Linux and Windows Server environments, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and security patching.

Collaboration & Delivery

- Experience working collaboratively with engineering teams to design and support build processes and operational workflows.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions and challenges effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

- Proficient in developing automation scripts and tools in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
- Experience with Groovy scripting and JavaScript/TypeScript modules to extend GitHub Actions functionality.
- Familiarity with administering and optimising storage solutions (SMB, DFS, NFS, iSCSI, CEPH) in mixed-platform environments, including performance troubleshooting.
- Experience deploying and configuring monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki, with defined metrics, alerts, and KPIs for proactive issue detection.
