About the Role

This role suits someone who enjoys pragmatic engineering, measurable reliability, and mentoring teammates on modern DevOps practices.

What You'll Do

- Automate infrastructure with Terraform and configuration with Ansible
- Implement observability stacks with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK, ensuring actionable alerts.
- Manage secrets and backups with Vault and Velero; validate disaster recovery procedures.
- Optimise cloud usage and costs on AWS/GCP/Azure while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product and engineering on SLIs/SLOs, deployment standards, and incident response.
- Document platforms and train teams on best practices and tooling.

About You

- 2–5 years in DevOps/SRE/platform engineering roles.
- 2+ years of Kubernetes administration in production environments.
- 2+ years of building CI/CD pipelines and automating releases (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Argo CD).
- 1+ years of Terraform (IaC) and Ansible (config management) in production.
- Experienced in observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and incident response.
- Strong Linux fundamentals, Bash scripting, and networking basics.
- Solid understanding of Docker and Git.
- Cloud experience with at least one major provider (AWS preferred; GCP/Azure a plus).
- A clear communicator, collaborative team player, and pragmatic problem solver.

Bonus Skills (Depending on Project Requirements):

- Experience with AWS Fargate or hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures.
- HA/load balancing with Nginx/HAProxy/ALB and traffic management for multi-service platforms.
- Supply-chain security and pipeline hardening.
- Cost optimisation and capacity planning.
- How many years of hands-on Kubernetes administration do you have?
- Which CI/CD tools have you used in production, and for how long?
- List your IaC and config-management experience (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Which clouds have you used professionally (AWS/GCP/Azure) and to what depth?
- What monitoring/logging stacks have you deployed and maintained?
- Describe a zero-downtime deployment strategy you’ve implemented.
- What’s your approach to cost optimisation in the cloud?
- Which scripting languages are you comfortable with?
- Which statement best describes your right to work in Australia?
