About us

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.

RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

About the role

In this role you will support the planning and delivery of meetings, events, and activities for our Fellows, Trainees, and medical students, as well as the work of the Victorian State Committee.

As the Events Officer, you will:

- Coordinate and deliver a range of Victorian events, from planning through to evaluation.

- Support the Victorian State Manager and Committee with administration, governance, and communication.

- Manage correspondence, prepare committee materials, and keep records up to date.

- Assist with member engagement, including new Fellow welcome packs, award nominations, and enquiries from Fellows and Trainees.

- Maintain the Victorian State Office webpage and produce the electronic newsletter.

- Build relationships with external organisations to strengthen RACS’ visibility in Victoria.

- Contribute to financial and reporting requirements and work as part of a small, supportive team.

This role is part time, 3 days per week.

We are looking for someone who has:

- Experience coordinating and delivering events.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Confidence working with a wide range of people, including members, event attendees, and external partners.

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Flexibility to work after hours or weekends when events require it.
