THE OPPORTUNITY
The Western Australia Police Force seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented individual to join the Data Science Team in the Data Science and Analytics Division. The team provides critical support for operational and tactical policing to assist with solving crime faster and keeping the WA community safe.
THE ROLE
WA Police Force’s Data Science team drives innovation to provide exceptional data science services for the WA Police Force and the WA community. You will join a dynamic group of individuals who are leading the way in enabling WA Police Force to not only use data to facilitate informed decision making in all aspects of the business, but also to solve crime faster and keep the community safe.
In this role, you will work collaboratively within the Data Science team to create data science and AI driven solutions that solve agency wide challenges and make impactful operational and strategic outcomes for the agency. Engaging across multi-disciplinary teams throughout the Data Science and Analytics Division and the rest of the agency, you will support all phases of modern data science and AI workloads, utilise state-of-the-art technology in the cloud and on premise, and work directly with operational data to empower WA Police Officers and Staff across all areas of the agency.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

- It is important to note that your CV should be tailored to clearly outline that you possess transferrable skills and experience relevant to the advertised role. Your ability to demonstrate this will be a key factor in determining whether you are competitive.
- The CV must also include the names and contact details of two referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
