About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Pipeline Controller to join our operations team at DBP. This critical role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of natural gas through high-pressure pipeline systems and associated facilities.

Roster: Three (3) Dayshifts followed by three (3) Nightshifts (or another three (3) Dayshifts) followed by six (6) days off. 6 days on/6 days off.

The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling, operating, and monitoring pipeline systems via SCADA and other ancillary equipment, while also ensuring scheduling of gas transportation capacity in line with relevant contracts. You will work closely with producers, customers, maintenance personnel, and internal stakeholders to respond to operational demands, alarm conditions, and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor high-pressure natural gas pipelines and facilities using SCADA systems and control equipment.
- Schedule and manage gas transportation capacity according to contractual requirements.
- Respond promptly to alarm conditions, system deviations, and emergencies, taking immediate action as per procedures to minimise system impact.
- Maintain detailed and timely records of shift events, including fault notices and operational logs.
- Monitor gas quality and supply, escalating deviations in line with contracts and regulations.
- Track and log travel movements in accordance with the travel management procedure, following up and escalating as necessary.
- Issue Permits to Work (PISAs) and ensure operational safety is not compromised.
- Maintain a working knowledge of pipeline assets and recognise factors affecting overall pipeline health.
- Support a culture of operational excellence, safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

About You

- Qualifications in instrumentation, mechanical, or relevant trade discipline.
- Working knowledge of fluid mechanics in pipelines and rotating plant equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, reports, and manuals.
- Competence in statistics and data correlation methods.
- High attention to detail with strong record-keeping and fault-logging abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder liaison skills.
- Customer-focused mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
- Committed to safety, professionalism, and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
- Proven ability to operate or maintain pipeline systems or similar industrial control systems.
- Experience with SCADA or other control systems for process and equipment monitoring.
- Trade-based experience in instrumentation or mechanical fields is desirable.
- Understanding of gas transmission systems and gas regulations is an advantage.
- Some knowledge of gas contracts and regulatory requirements is desirable.

Remuneration

- Starting annual training salary: $134,500 (including Superannuation) plus a 19% Role Specific Allowance (expected time at this level is approximately 3 to 6 months)
- The Role Specific Allowance will increase to 37% after training has been completed and shiftwork commences
- Annual salary increases of 3.5% each year for the next 4 years
