What does the job look like?

As a Data Engineer in our Intermodal business unit, you will be a key member of the Digital CI and Solutions team, designing and building scalable data solutions to support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and data self-service. You’ll help construct and maintain Linfox’s Enterprise Data Warehouse and large-scale data processing systems, enabling smarter decision-making across the organisation.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will see you collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver modern data engineering practices that orchestrate the movement, transformation, and lifecycle of data.

This role is primarily based at our West Melbourne site, with 1–2 days per week at our Essendon Fields HQ.

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and modelling.

- Collaborate with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions.

- Establish and maintain standard practices for consistent and efficient data management.

- Provide accurate estimates and technical delivery for data-related projects.

- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.

- Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.

- Support CI/CD processes for deploying data pipelines and infrastructure.

Are you the one?

We’re looking for a technically skilled, solutions-focused professional with a passion for data engineering and cloud technologies. You’ll bring hands-on experience in modern data platforms and a collaborative mindset to help drive innovation across Linfox.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Mathematics.

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (or equivalent cloud certification).

- 3+ years’ experience in data transformation projects using modern cloud engineering practices.

- Experience with AWS, Snowflake, DBT, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Exposure to multi-cloud environments and open-source technologies.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and warehouses.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

- Collaborative team player with a customer service orientation.

- Ability to work toward common goals in an inclusive and open manner.

- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
