Data Engineer / 6 Months Contract / AWS / Databricks / Brisbane or Melbourne

This is initially a 6 months contract and then you will be given the opportunity to convert to permanent after that.

About the role

This 6 months contract role is ideal for a Data Engineer experienced in building scalable data pipelines. Reporting to a delivery lead, you'll work closely with data scientists and platform engineers in a hybrid setting, with 2–3 days a week in the office.

They have an office in Brisbane or Melbourne and can be done from either office.

Duties/Key responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark
  • Manage Delta Lake architectures and transformations (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
  • Orchestrate workflows using Databricks Jobs, notebooks, and libraries
  • Integrate with AWS S3, automating workflows using Boto3
  • Implement IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation

Skills and experience

  • Strong expertise in Python, PySpark, and data pipeline development
  • Experience with Delta Lake and Databricks platform
  • Deep understanding of AWS services including S3, Glue, and Lambda
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with Boto3 and automating cloud workflows
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
