The role
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Town Planner to join our Development Systems team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to apply their planning knowledge in a practical setting and build foundational skills in statutory planning, development assessment, and community engagement. You’ll work closely with experienced planners to support the delivery of high-quality outcomes across a diverse and growing community.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

- Provide planning and development information through Council’s Duty Planner service.

- Prepare assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.

- Undertake site inspections and prepare supporting documentation.

- Coordinate internal and external stakeholder feedback on development matters.

- Respond to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.

- Meet statutory and Council timeframes and contribute to the delivery of efficient development services.

You will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning (or nearing completion).

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.

- Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.

- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.

- Class C Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:
Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and prior experience in local government or development assessment is an advantage.

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,819 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% super.
