The Town Planner position is available in our Central Coast, Newcastle or Northern Rivers office locations. We're seeking someone who will be a great fit for our collaborative planning team and is keen to grow and develop.

What You'll Be Part Of:
At Barker Ryan Stewart, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of respected clients, including private developers, publicly listed companies, consultants, and all levels of government. Our team has delivered over 2,500 projects with a combined construction value exceeding $5 billion, partnering with clients who share our commitment to shaping vibrant, sustainable communities. Working with these industry leaders means you'll be part of high-impact projects that challenge and inspire, while being supported by a team culture that values collaboration, integrity, and continuous growth.
As a valued member of our planning team, you will:
- Deliver town planning services across a variety of projects, both in-office and on-site.
- Take ownership of assigned projects—planning, managing, coordinating, and tracking progress to ensure successful outcomes.
- Provide regular project updates and insights to your Manager and Directors.
- Offer expert technical advice to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Support business development by assisting with the preparation of quotations and tender submissions.
- Stay informed on relevant legislation, policies, and regulations impacting town planning and urban development.
- Build strong relationships through effective liaison and coordination with clients, sub-consultants, authorities, and contractors.
- Oversee and review the work of technical staff contributing to your projects.
- Review town planning and supporting documentation prepared by others.
- Conduct site inspections to inform planning decisions and ensure project alignment.
- Actively participate in client meetings, contributing to collaborative and solution-focused discussions.
About you:
- University Degree in Planning / Town Planning or equivalent, recognised by The Planning Institute of Australia.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in another consulting position would be advantageous.
