About The Role

As a Student Support Officer (internally known as Koorie Tutor), you’ll work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support to First Nations students in custody. You’ll help learners stay engaged, build confidence, and prepare for life beyond incarceration.

Your responsibilities

- Supporting Koorie students with coursework and learning strategies
- Providing mentoring and encouragement to build confidence
- Creating a safe and respectful learning environment
- Offering culturally responsive support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners

We are excited about you because you have

- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110 / TAE40116 / TAE40122) OR willing to enrol.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- An understanding of the importance of cultural identity and community connection
- Great communication skills and a compassionate listener
- A commitment to inclusive, respectful education practices
