Student Services Support Officer role at Department of Education, Western Australia is part of a pool for permanent and fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is located in the north‑western suburbs on the coastal strip, 18 kilometres from Perth. We cater for students from Year 7 to Year 12, and the school prioritises the care and progress of every child. The RoleDuncraig SHS provides a strong pastoral care focus for all students. As part of the Student Services team, the Student Services Support Officer (SSSO) role requires the capacity to work under pressure and undertake a wide range of administrative and student‑focused support services within the school.
To be successful in this role, suitable applicants will ideally have strong computer skills using various Microsoft Office 365 programs, as well as experience in SIS and Compass student management systems for accessing information such as student records and personal data, attendance, good standing, Chronical, uniforms and transfer information.
Suitable applicants should ideally be confident working in a fast‑paced environment, have an eye for detail, the ability to generate statistical, pastoral care and attendance correspondence, as well as being able to coordinate administrative tasks for the Student Services section. The SSSO role is the face of day‑to‑day interactions with students, therefore interpersonal skills which form relationships is highly desirable.
As an SSSO, suitable applicants who are confident to review student services processes and procedures to facilitate office effectiveness as well as identifying student needs and requirements, will be highly regarded. Ideally, suitable applicants will be collaborative and provide administrative support for special projects across teams as the business needs of the school arise.
Responsibilities- Provide pastoral care and a wide range of administrative and student‑focused support services within the school, including supporting the Student Services team and other staff.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills using Microsoft Office 365 programs; experience with SIS and Compass for accessing information such as student records, attendance, good standing, Chronical, uniforms and transfer information.
- Coordinate administrative tasks for the Student Services section; generate statistical, pastoral care and attendance correspondence; support office processes to facilitate efficiency.
- Interact with students on a day‑to‑day basis, building positive relationships through effective interpersonal communication.
- Be prepared to review and contribute to student services processes and procedures and to provide administrative support for cross‑team projects as required by the school.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office 365; experience in SIS and Compass for accessing information such as student records, attendance, good standing, Chronical, uniforms and transfer information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure and in a team environment; strong verbal and written communication; customer service principles.
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills and experience in providing administrative support.
- Attention to detail and a collaborative approach to projects.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
