Position Information

Chatham High School is a large welcoming comprehensive high school that services the town of Taree and adjacent rural and coastal areas with an enrolment of approximately 550 students. The school is seeking an energetic leader who will continue to grow our TAS faculty, following a recent re‑refurbishment of our technology learning spaces and staff appointments.

Approximately 49% of students enrolled at Chatham High School are of Aboriginal descent and the school enjoys a close connection to the local community through a wide variety of cultural programs. The school has a mix of experienced and early career teaching, support, administrative and executive staff, noted for their caring attitude and commitment to high expectations for all students.

A broad academic and vocational curriculum is supported by diverse cultural and extra curricula programmes offered by the school to enhance student retention and attainment. These include CHACE, a curriculum extension programme in stage 4, a Talented Athlete Program (TAP) in stage 5 and a well‑resourced and staffed Senior Support Centre for stage 6 students. Student success is underpinned by strong staff commitment to working in teams to support classes and individual students. Student leadership is an active and valued aspect of school life and enhances the increasingly positive perception of the school in the community.

- Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead staff at all stages of their career through the implementation of High Impact Professional Learning.

- Proven ability to support a culture of continuous improvement in the teaching of Technology and Applied Studies courses across all stages.

- Ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole‑school initiatives that address school priorities.
