About the division

The Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE) partners with students, staff and the broader community to deliver an outstanding student experience. The Student Experience branch within DASE provides administrative and support services to students as well as partnerships with academic staff in the development of a high-quality, engaging and relevant learning environment. The Student Engagement and Success unit delivers proactive initiatives that support student connections, progression and success, working closely with student representatives and focusing on orientation, program advice, academic progress and initiatives that support retention and completion.

Role purpose

The Student Success Advisor works in the Student Success Team to proactively deliver front-facing student support across the coursework student lifecycle (onboarding to graduation). This includes cohort/discipline-specific support and engagement, degree pathway advice, onboarding, program/course advice, student counselling and consultation, retention/engagement activities, and graduation completions. A key component of this role is to ensure the delivery of holistic student case management in line with developing a proactive student-centric service culture focusing on increased student retention, engagement and success.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver front-facing student support across the coursework student lifecycle from onboarding to graduation.

2. Provide cohort/discipline-specific support and engagement, degree pathway advice, and program/course advice.

3. Offer student counselling and consultation and contribute to retention/engagement activities that support student success.

4. Support graduation processes and completions for students.

5. Ensure holistic student case management aligned with a proactive, student-centric service culture.

To be successful you will need

- Proven experience of actively contributing to the development of, and working effectively as part of a high performing team.

- Proven ability to champion a workplace culture defined by positivity, adaptability, energy, and the delivery of results.

- Previous experience in the provision of front-facing student advice in a tertiary education environment, including interpretation, application and customisation of complex rules and policies.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct, professional and responsive manner and to work collaboratively to deliver student-centric results.

- Demonstrated high-level administrative experience, with mature organisational and time management abilities, problem solving skills and good judgement to deliver high-quality output.

- Experience managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines, implementing plans to achieve defined outcomes, and the ability to investigate, analyse and implement procedures.

- Experience applying the University's Student Administration Systems in the delivery of high-quality student support and administrative services.

- Ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to comply with associated behaviour expectations.
