Council of the City of Sydney, Australia Humanitix Full time

Humanitix is the world's first not-for-profit ticketing platform. We believe businesses that align profit with purpose can solve the world's biggest problems.

Since launching in 2016, we have grown exponentially, transforming over $16.5M of annoying booking fees into donations towards impact projects . Events we work with range from music and art festivals, conferences, galas, expos, workshops, schools and university events, you name it In 9 years, we have become the go-to platform for hosts to manage their events, sell tickets, and create impact through our philanthropic model. And the best part? We’ve only achieved 1% of what we know we’re capable of.

We are a global business with offices in Sydney, Auckland, Denver and Edinburgh. At Humanitix, we celebrate the diversity of thought, perspective and expression, and we look for many different skills and abilities that can enhance Humanitix’s offerings and our culture. So, even if you don’t think you quite meet all the skills listed or tick all the boxes, we’d still love to hear from you

For a Cliffnotes summary of the Humanitix model, check out the first 5 mins of Sam Harris' podcast (#271 Earning to Give) .

Day-to-day of the role

Humanitix is one of Australia’s leading social enterprises, and we are looking for someone to help us tell our amazing story to the world.

As our in-house Junior Content Marketer, you will be responsible for:

Writing engaging blog posts and editorial content for event hosts and attendees

Using SEO tools to improve organic search visibility and drive traffic, including monitoring content performance and suggesting improvements based on analytics

Researching trending topics , audience interests, and industry insights to inform content direction, and identifying opportunities to highlight events and create content that resonates with target audiences

Helping create and manage content distribution through our monthly newsletters, email marketing and social media

Celebrating our product wins by creating user-friendly product marketing materials and managing comms and content for feature launches

Helping develop our impact report on an annual basis

Helping design, write copy and implement landing pages for different segments and audiences.

You will work very closely with the Chief of Staff and the Head of Growth in the Sydney team. Based in Humanitix HQ, you will be dialled right into the heart of our organisation as you try to take our achievements and share them with the world.

We are looking for someone with a lot of energy who can deliver professional-looking content with 1-2 years’ experience (preferably in B2B SaaS / tech). This individual should have the confidence to partner closely with the senior leadership and have the spirit to thrive in environments that are fast-paced and often ambiguous.

This is a full-time role based in The Rocks, Sydney (optional WFH one day a week).

Skills & Requirements

Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in content marketing / copywriting (preferably in SaaS / tech)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and grammar

Curiosity for industry insights and trending topics, as well as Humanitix’s clients and product to get the best stories and inspiration for content marketing

Time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines

Collaborative mindset and willingness to take feedback and iterate on content

Remuneration

$70-75,000 (depending on relevant experience) + Superannuation + Tax benefits.*

What the first 6 months would look like

Month 1:

Immerse yourself in Humanitix, sitting in on all departments’ meetings to get a full understanding of how Humanitix works and who the key leaders are, so you can establish relationships with relevant stakeholders and be in-the-know of internal news flow relevant to content (new features releases, awesome customer wins, impact updates and more generally our points of difference we can be talking publicly about).

In the first month we’d like you to write a few pieces of blog / editorial content aimed at our event hosts and/or attendees, and help with content creation for the monthly newsletter, other marketing EDMs and/or social media.

Months 2-4:

You’ll be in the flow of churning out content aimed at both event hosts and attendees to drive traffic to our website, blog and marketplace. You’ll start using SEO tools to improve organic search visibility and increase traffic, including monitoring content performance and suggesting improvements based on analytics.

By the end of month 4 we expect you’ll be leading the charge on our newsletters and reasonably confident with content creation for our socials (which is very light touch) with minimal supervision.

Month 5+:

You are now running our socials, newsletters, and general content creation with respect to updates, blogs, trending topics etc. We’ll also get you working on landing pages on our marketing website and/or our Impact Reports which tell the world about where all our amazing booking fee profits go.

Beyond the first year, the growth in your role is an open book given how exciting our growth as a company is. Grab the bull by its horns and show us why you’re the best person in the world to be sharing our story

Why You'll Love It Here

You will have JOINT OWNERSHIP to contribute to the content marketing strategy & be responsible for its success

We do not micromanage anyone, you are trusted, have full autonomy, and are treated as an adult

We ONLY hire other smart, ambitious people who LOVE to learn and grow

You will get to write and create content on interesting events, organisers, and topics that get viewed by millions of people

As an early team member, your input will be absolutely CRITICAL to the success of the company in all areas

We have a collaborative and supportive environment where teamwork and communication are encouraged.

At Humanitix, you’ll learn how to:

Work hard. Play harder. And maintain a healthy balance. We celebrate great work ethic but also like to have fun. We recognise that there are only 24 hours in a day to split your time between your career, loved ones, passions, and pursuits outside of work.

Make genuine connections by bringing your authentic self to work. Your colleagues can be your friends too, sometimes lifelong.

Ask for forgiveness, not permission. We encourage experimentation and reward initiative. Have an idea so crazy you think it just might work? Go for it and share the results.

Give and receive direct and constructive feedback . It may feel uncomfortable at first but a huge growth opportunity awaits.

Ask for help and escalation issues. You are not expected to be a superhero.

The truth is we spend more of our time awake at work than anywhere else in life. We believe a truly enjoyable workplace is critical to a life well-lived.
