Position Information

Windsor South Public School is located in the Hawkesbury, on the traditional lands of the Boorooberongal people of the Dharug Nation. In 2025, we have an enrolment of 357 students, including 34% Aboriginal students and 19% from a language background other than English. The whole school community interacts within a respectful, responsible and safe learning environment. In 2026, the school will be organised into 14 mainstream classes and three inclusive education classes, including an Early Intervention class.

An enthusiastic and collaborative staff are committed to achieving optimal student learning outcomes through quality teaching practices, inspiring every student to reach their full potential. Evidence‑informed, dynamic learning programs foster a culture where all learners succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers. The curriculum is supplemented by learning and support interventions, creative and performing arts classes, sports, and technology initiatives. All staff are trained in explicit and systematic teaching practices where every student is supported and challenged to reach their full potential. Highly trained Instructional Leaders mentor and coach all staff to ensure exemplary classroom practice is consistently embedded, evaluated and refined.

Specific Selection Criteria

- In addition to the general selection criteria an approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities and complex learning and behavioural needs within a support class with demonstrated ability to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher.

- Proven ability to lead and develop evidence‑based and evaluative practices to implement high‑quality differentiated curriculum, including the development of individualized learning programs that maximize student engagement, with a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.

- Evidence of a highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leader with a capacity to build & maintain positive, inclusive, trusting relationships & partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies & the wider community, inclusive of managing the performance of individuals & teams across a complex setting.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
