Position Information
Holsworthy Public School, situated in the Liverpool local council area, is a diverse and multicultural learning community. The school proudly serves approximately 560 students, including a significant number from Defence Force families. With over 70% of students from non-English speaking backgrounds, our school community reflects a rich cultural heritage, representing a diverse range of different languages. This diversity fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
At Holsworthy Public School, we have a dedicated staff committed to high expectations and evidence-informed practices to help all students achieve their potential. We offer specialist programs such as EAL/D and Learning and Support, a Student Parliament, and a Defence School Mentor program. Students enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities, and we work closely with our Community of Schools and an active P&C to provide rich opportunities for students and families.
Term 1 of 2026 will see the establishment of our new Support Unit consisting of two Autism (Au) classes and one Autism/IO class.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a diverse range of complex needs, including autism, intellectual disabilities and mental health concerns with a demonstrated ability to differentiate teaching and learning to meet individual student needs.
- High level communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dynamic leadership and school team to facilitate whole school practices, including strategic planning, leading and monitoring initiatives and applying evaluative practices to drive continuous improvement with a focus on equity.
- Capacity to lead and support inclusive educational practices that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Strong skills in communicating with students, parents, staff, and the wider school community to promote a whole-school culture that advocates for the needs of students with disabilities.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
