Position Information
Pennant Hills High School, with an enrolment of 1140 students, is a large, coeducational, comprehensive high school that is highly regarded for academic excellence, curriculum enrichment, and high quality outcomes. The school has a strong culture of positive relationships, student wellbeing structures such as merit schemes, a Positive Behaviour for Learning program, and a focus on student leadership and high potential gifted education. Staff deliver technology‑rich teaching and are supported through professional learning. A Special Education Faculty caters for students with mild or moderate intellectual disabilities, fostering inclusivity.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Teacher training and academic qualification requirements.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead staff through syllabus modifications and curriculum implementation, sustaining professional relationships, ensuring accountability and adhering to curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with the school executive team to analyse data and lead whole‑school priorities and initiatives outlined in the School Excellence Plan.
- Capacity to lead and motivate a diverse faculty in developing skills and practices in explicit teaching, producing high‑quality programs that deliver measurable outcomes for all students, including high potential and gifted students.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and management skills to coordinate and lead staff across multiple courses and varying teaching experience, guiding curriculum monitoring and assessment to build staff capability.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
3. Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage performance of individuals and teams.
4. Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you must commence the application process concurrently with your application.
