Sir Joseph Banks High School is a comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 931 mainstream students and a Support Unit of 72 students catering for 3 Intellectually Mild and 2 Intellectually Moderate and 2 Autism classes. Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead staff through the current curriculum reform, syllabus changes and curriculum implementation to successfully create high quality teaching and learning programs with measurable impact for all students
- Proven capacity to work collaboratively and successfully with the school executive team to analyse data and to lead, implement and support whole school priorities and initiatives in the school's School Excellence Plan.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse faculty to develop skills and practices in explicit teaching while maintaining relationships, accountability, curriculum and assessment requirements
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organisational and management skills to effectively coordinate and lead staff across multiple courses and with staff of varying teaching experiences, while guiding curriculum monitoring and assessment practices to build staff capability
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
