Position Information
East Hills Boys High School is a comprehensive boys high school in the South Western area of Sydney with a current enrolment of 863. (68% from non-English speaking backgrounds, including international students). The school's core values are Respect, Responsibility and Learning. The school's focus is maximising student learning outcomes with a continuing commitment to literacy and numeracy. The school has a proud tradition of strong academic achievement and excellence in the fields of sport and creative arts. The school's wellbeing program is supported by the Berry Street Education Model.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Behaviour Difficulties and Emotion Disturbance and demonstrated excellence in individualised classroom teaching practice.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with colleagues, parents and carers, SLSO staff, external support agencies and the wider community to achieve positive student outcomes.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and capacity to enhance student engagement and participation through planned and evaluated PLSPs that respond to the social, emotional, behavioural, and communication needs of all students.
- Commitment to creating a classroom that is inclusive of a range of students, including the cultural and educational needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
