Learning Support Assistant – Wantirna South Secondary

Overview

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of students with learning difficulties? Our Wantirna South campus is seeking multiple Secondary Learning Support Assistants who desire to create an inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive. We have roles ranging 3 to 5 days per week (8:50am-3:35pm, during term time).

As part of our school community and educational team, you act as a bridge between students and their teachers and help foster connections between students and their peers. By ensuring each student receives the support they need to actively participate in school and class, you’ll have the rewarding experience of helping students reach milestones they might not have reached on their own.

Waverley Christian College is a forward-thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12. We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years. With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 400 staff across both campuses in 2025.

Responsibilities

Contribute to an inclusive classroom environment where students with learning difficulties can participate actively. Support teachers by assisting individual students or small groups, facilitating learning activities, and helping to implement strategies that promote student engagement and independence. Act as a liaison between students, teachers, and support staff to ensure coordinated and effective support.

Qualifications

- Have a minimum of a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Education Support, or be prepared to study towards one, or currently studying toward a degree in Teaching/Education
- Have a passion for supporting students with disabilities
- Are able to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and other support staff
- Can demonstrate high level communication and interpersonal skills
- Have good administrative and Microsoft Office 365 skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Are able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education
- Are willing to get involved in all aspects of the College’s programs and opportunities

A Working with Children’s Check, and a Police Check less than three months old are mandatory prior to being hired. A current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011), CPR Certificate (HLTAID009), and Anaphylaxis Certificate (22578VIC) are also required prior to starting in the role.
