Peer Support Worker

Front of House Waratah Clinic Moonee Ponds

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services

- Part-time Ongoing Level 2 Consumer Peer Support Worker position 4 days per week / hours negotiable

- Use your lived experience of mental health, alcohol and other drug challenges or service use to support others experiencing similar challenges

- Based in Moonee Ponds, with close transportation links

Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services provides person-centred, recovery-oriented care, treatment and support through our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians and Lived and Living experience (LLE) consumer and carer experts. We are dedicated to providing caring and high-quality specialist community and hospital-based mental health services for adults and older adults who are experiencing or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness. We are committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering trauma informed holistic and evidence-based treatment, which is inclusive of family, carers and kin and provided by staff with well-developed skills. Staff employed within the service are expected to identify evidence-based practice approaches and to use these within their work.

About the role

The Front of House Peer support worker at Waratah Clinic is an integral role providing peer support to consumers in this public facing area of our community-based service.

- Support consumers in our waiting area when they arrive for their appointments

- Run our ‘welcome model’ – Initial Conversations, for new consumers entering the service

- Facilitate community group programs

- Contribute to the overall growth of the program

About you

Essential

- You have some peer support experience

- You are passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to recovery

- You are an effective communicator with knowledge of Microsoft Office / Excel
