**Carer Peer Support Worker - Orygen HOPE**

- ** Permanent part time opportunity (2 days per week)**:
- ** Support young people, carers and their systems through suicidal experiences**
- Orygen Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) is a service for young people aged 12 to 25 years experiencing deliberate self-harm, suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts. Orygen HOPE service is one of the four child and youth HOPE services recommended in the expansion of the established HOPE program by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.
**Your new role**:
- The Carer peer support worker will work closely with clinical and lived experience staff, including youth peer support workers to provide peer-to-peer supports, including individual and family direct work; advocacy; and referral and linkages.
- Support the implementation of Carer Peer Support specific interventions within Orygen HOPE and providing consultation support to other members of Orygen HOPE team supporting the interventions.
- Providing support and professional development around areas of specialist knowledge to members of relevant clinical teams, via training, supervision and other appropriate strategies.
- Be a knowledge resource for the Carer Peer Support Work specialty and building the role of Peer Work within Orygen HOPE and the greater Orygen service system.
**About You**:
- To have been or be a carer of a first-hand user of public mental health services, preferably as a young person and have the ability to share experiences in a recovery focused way
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with young people and their families
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as abilities in problem solving and negotiation
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
