The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) is seeking to appoint a Director Strategy, Reform and Fair Jobs Code to join its team.

The Director Strategy, Reform and Fair Jobs Code is responsible for leading relevant strategies and policy responses and providing advice on interventions and opportunities that contribute to driving industry development and economic growth across Victoria, with a focus on energy and climate change.

Reporting to the Executive Director - Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent, the Director Strategy, Reform and Fair Jobs Code is also responsible for developing and delivering regulation reform projects that simplify government processes to further support businesses.

The successful candidate will lead the operation of the Fair Jobs Code (FJC) Unit including overseeing assessments of FJC applications, developing policy and guidelines, engaging with stakeholders and ensuring that industry and agencies are aware of their obligations.

The position is within the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent Branch which is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda. The branch develops policies and delivers programs that drive sustainable economic growth and workforce inclusion, leading to higher living standards for all Victorians. The branch does this by:

- using deep engagement and insights to lead the development and delivery of industry policies for Victoria
- creating opportunities for local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and employees, including apprentices, trainees and cadets, to participate in government projects
- supporting the growth of strategic industry sectors, the transition of evolving sectors, and enhanced productivity
- simplifying business operations by supporting councils to reduce regulatory processes
- equipping businesses with the necessary skills for growth and enabling Victorians to secure higher-paid jobs.

The successful candidate will:

1. Provide expert and authoritative advice to portfolio Ministers and senior management on relevant policy, strategy and regulatory reform opportunities, with a focus on energy and climate change, that will improve the environment for business growth, investment and job creation.
2. Lead relevant strategy and policy development to support delivery of industry development and economic growth priorities, with a focus on energy and climate change.
3. Lead the FJC Unit including overseeing assessments of applications, management of public register, issues management, and development of policy and operational guidelines.
4. Lead the strategic planning and delivery of a range of regulatory reform opportunities that support Victorian businesses to grow and invest, working closely with a range of stakeholders across all levels of government.
5. Engage strategically and collaboratively with key stakeholders across government and industry to secure better industry and economic development outcomes and ensure the successful application of the FJC.
6. Provide high-level authoritative advice and responses for Ministers and senior executives on policies and strategies with a particular focus on energy and climate change, regulation reform matters and on the FJC.
7. Provide strong, collaborative and adaptable leadership, including coaching and mentoring, to foster a high-performance culture that delivers outcomes across portfolios.
