**The Role**
Reporting to the Manager, Local Jobs First Legislative Reform and working as part of a small and dynamic team, the Policy Officer will contribute to a diverse range of industry development and participation policy and program initiatives.
The responsibilities of the Policy Officer will include:
- Supporting policy co-ordination, development and implementation in relation to the Victorian Government's election commitment to strengthen the Local Jobs First Act 2003 and the associated policy to ensure Local Jobs First continues to maximise opportunities for local jobs and businesses.
- Contributing to the delivery of the Local Jobs First scheme and prepare high quality policy and strategic advice on issues related to government procurement and industry policy.
**The Team**
The position of Policy Officer, Local Jobs First Legislative Reform forms a part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. The Group champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation.
**About You**
- **Problem solving**: Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving; investigates and probes for the facts; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems.
- **Policy skills**: Demonstrated experience in formulating public policy options and recommendations and providing strategic advice to senior management based on sound research and analysis, including consultation with stakeholders.
