Job Description

In this role you will:

- Uphold the rights of service users and adhere to best practice guidelines in the delivery of activities and service operations.

- Ensure that the wellbeing of children and young people are actively safeguarded, and concerns are reported immediately.

- Assess referrals to the program in consultation with Manager and according to the Intake procedure.

- Provide casework, advocacy and group work services to families which incorporates the provision of support and guidance to young people, children, and infants.

- Be responsible for informing families of the service obligations in relation to child protection, confidentiality, and the Privacy Act.

- Ensure all records/case notes are accurate and maintained in line with service policy and legislative requirements, including the electronic casework system.

- Inform families of the services provided by Creating Links, their rights and responsibilities and the availability of other community resources.

- In conjunction with the client, the Client ServicesOfficer will develop an individual record of all actions, resources, and tasks on the Individual Service Plan, including time frames and support the client to identify strategies and resources to meet goals.

- Assist other team members in conducting group programs.

- In consultation with the Target groups identify needs and develop, implement, and evaluate appropriate group programs and activities that meet those identified needs.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you bring to the role:

- Tertiary/Diploma qualifications in a social welfare field or equivalent.

- Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience in working with families with complex needs

- A well-developed understanding of child protection, the relevant legislation and knowledge of research and theoretical frameworks for working with vulnerable families.

- A well-developed understanding of and ability to appropriately respond to the needs of people from all communities including Indigenous; Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD); and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender ( LGBTQIA) communities.

- Experience of report writing, using analytical skills.

- Ability to prioritise competing demands and meeting deadlines while working independently.

- Competence in Microsoft Office.

- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.

- Knowledge of current legislation related to Child Protection Issues.

- Understanding of the needs of socially disadvantaged/vulnerable families.

- Experience in statistical data collection and recording

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

- Access to personal vehicle for work use

- NSW Working with Children Check

- National Police History

- Current NSW drivers’ licence & access to personal vehicle

- Fluency in a second language other than English
