- Central Coast Local Health District is seeking an Aboriginal Health Worker to provide cultural safety, care and coordination of Aboriginal patients and their families at our Ngiyang service at Tuggerah.

**About You**
- You have a current Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
- Aboriginality: Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
- You can describe how you would support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and their families to navigate the health system, during their antenatal, birth and postnatal period.
- You can explain your understanding of Aboriginal history leading to the current health issues impacting Aboriginal families and children.

- Aboriginal Health Education Officer Non Graduate
- Aboriginal Health Worker

**What you'll be doing**
- This position is responsible for providing culturally sensitive support to pregnant women who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and women whose babies identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and their families during pregnancy, facilitating informal support groups and facilitating access to appropriate services.
- This position also works towards improving health outcomes and wellbeing of Aboriginal Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait families on the Central Coast with young children (0-5 years of age) by providing culturally sensitive care navigation for the family.
- Care is provided via telephone, telehealth where available, home visits and hospital and/or community settings.
- The Aboriginal Health Worker works in partnership with the family and with Registered Midwives in the antenatal and post
- natal period, and Child and Family Health Nurses up to the child reaching school age for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait women and women whose babies identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as per Ngiyang Aboriginal Pregnancy, Child & Family Health Service Model of Care.

**Where you’ll be working**
- You will be working at our Ngiyang service at Tuggerah, providing cultural support in the pregnancy, child & family health service for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients living on Darkinjung land on the Central Coast.
