**Role**:
The Statewide Vision Resource Centre’s Production Department produces materials in alternative formats including braille, large print, audio, and e-text. Transcriptions are produced at the request of Visiting Teachers and schools for use by students who are blind or partially sighted. Eligible students across Government, Catholic and Independent Schools are able to use SVRC’s service at no cost throughout their time at school.

A vacancy exists within the Production Department for a transcription officer. The successful applicant will work with a team of nine other transcribers, producing accessible materials for students across Victoria.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities for this position include:

- Production of student learning materials in accessible formats
- Production of tactile illustrations, manually and on a computer
- Operation of a photocopier; stereo-copier; thermo-form machine; scanner; braille embosser and cutter; in order to copy, bind and distribute materials
- Working collaboratively with other transcription staff to meet deadlines and produce quality materials in a timely manner
- Using specialised computer software, including Duxbury and Corel draw
- Record keeping and maintenance of appropriate records
- Liaising with Visiting Teachers and school personnel in relation to work for students
- Provision of word processing and administrative support for SVRC programs and services
