**About the Role**
Each year The Lost Dogs’ Home relies on our wonderful network of foster carers to provide a temporary, loving home for thousands of animals who are recovering from surgery, undergoing behaviour training, too young for adoption, or need some extra TLC outside of the busy shelter environment. The Lost Dogs’ Home also works in close partnership with multiple different rescue groups who help to rehome shelter animals who may not be suitable for adoption.
We are currently seeking a* Pathways Team Leader *to oversee The Lost Dogs’ Home Pathways team and deliver exceptional outcomes through our foster, rescue and Adoption Ambassador program (AAP). This newly created role will be responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and operational support to a small team consisting of four Pathways Coordinators and the Adoption Ambassador Coordinator.
The key responsibilities of this role will include:

- Leading and coaching the team to deliver excellent outcomes for animals in our care, to build and maintain strong relationships with foster carers, rescue groups and other stakeholders
- Overseeing the placement of shelter animals into foster and rescue and ensuring it is managed in accordance with relevant legislation
- Assisting with diffusing customer/client escalations, using your exceptional interpersonal skills
- Jumping in to help the team out during busy periods by completing a foster handover or administrative tasks as required
- Developing standards of procedures and work protocols to ensure efficient and effective daily operations in line with LDH’s mission
- Arranging 1:1 catch up with a team member to set annual goals and identify training and development opportunities for them.
- Working closely with the wider Operations and Veterinary Department to collaborate ideas and work on special projects to continually improve processes, customer service and animal outcomes

**About you**
You will have exceptional people management and leadership skills, coupled with a strong focus on developing members through coaching, mentoring and providing quality feedback. You always maintain a customer service mindset and look for ways to continuously improve the standards of service you and your team delivery to both internal and external clients. Ideally you have three - five years’ experience in the animal welfare or veterinary sector and have a good understanding of relevant welfare legislation and requirements. In addition, you will bring:

- Demonstrated experience in a customer/client service leadership role, including proven ability to manage customer escalations.
- Strong leadership and management skills including ability to encourage and coordinate the performance of a team so that collectively, they deliver on agreed outcomes.
- Conflict management skills including ability to work with people to overcome differences of opinion or communication difficulties.
- Decision making skills including ability to determine a course of action when faced with a choice of feasible alternatives.
- Coaching and mentoring skills including ability to help others improve their knowledge or skills by providing encouragement, feedback, and insights into alternative ways of approaching situations.
