About the Role

A full-time permanent position has become available for a Commercial Analyst - Group Planning & Reporting. Based in Melbourne, you will be responsible for the Customer Markets portfolio in planning and performance reporting activities in relation to management reporting, budgeting and forecasting. You will also lead the Capital Expenditure reporting and assist in the preparation and submission of finance regulatory enquiries.

What you’ll be doing:

- Lead partnering of Capital Expenditure reporting to support the Customer Markets Business Unit
- Drive continuous improvement to more efficiently deliver Capital Expenditure reporting requirements
- Assist the preparation of Capital Expenditure reporting for external reporting, internal management reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Assist in the delivery of AGL Energy annual budget, four-year plan and quarterly forecasts
- Assist finance colleagues and stakeholders with business case modelling, analysis and commercial due-diligence, as well as ensuring all governance processes are adhered to
- Support and maintain key Project Finance processes, including, but not limited to updating of business case template and benefit assumption book
- Act as key finance partner between finance and portfolio governance teams to oversee end to end capital processes and look to review, improve or problem solve on key processes to ensure continual improvement
- Assist the preparation of AGL Energy half-year and full-year reporting requirements for external stakeholders, including the OFR, Investor Pack and supplementary data and analysis
- Assist in analysing AGL Energy progress towards a range of market targets and initiatives
- Assist in the preparation and submission of finance regulatory enquires and data requests including presentation of findings to key Finance stakeholders
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting including the delivery of the Group Performance Report and Business Performance Reports
- Provide appropriate specialist input to support key finance and business initiatives
- Add value by acting with key stakeholders’ interest in mind, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, gaining trust and respect
- Assist the broader AGL Energy FP&A team on an as required basis

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce or economics (CPA/CA Qualified preferred)
- Proven experience in commercial analytical roles
- Demonstrated commercial acumen to understand the dynamics of a complex industry and high level analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrates excellent Analysis for Office/SAP skills and ability to understand, utilise and improve reporting systems.
- Highly competent in financial modelling, with ability to analyse and maintain complex models
- Strong written, communication skills and attention to detail
- Works collaboratively with others and builds and maintains strong team relationships. Genuinely seeks input from others and respects their views
- Highly motivated, energetic, flexible, commercially focused with can-do attitude
