**About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission**
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent
agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and
services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in
Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and
Accountability Act 2013.

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission 2
develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for
people with disability receiving supports or services, including those received under
the National Disability Insurance Scheme
promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS
providers and people with disability
secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and
enforcement arrangements, including through the monitoring and investigation
functions conferred on the Commissioner by legislation
promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers and the delivery of
progressively higher standards of supports and services to people with disability
develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework
relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and
services to people with disability
provide advice or recommendations to the National Disability Insurance Agency
(NDIA) and its Board in relation to the performance of the Agency’s functions
engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the
objects of the relevant legislation, and
provide NDIS market oversight, including:
i. by monitoring changes in the NDIS market which may indicate emerging
risk; and
ii. by monitoring and mitigating the risks of unplanned service withdrawal.

**Regulatory Operations**
The Regulatory Operations Division comprises:
National Compliance Policy including Worker Screening
Provider Registration
State and Territories operations that deliver the NDIS Commission’s function
relating to reportable incidents, compliance and enforcement. This include local
engagement; building provider capability to prevent and manage incidents
affecting people with disability; and undertaking compliance and investigation
activities, and enforcement action.
**Compliance**
The Compliance team forms an integral part of the State or Territory regional team. The
Compliance team is responsible for working with NDIS providers to help them comply with
the quality and safeguards requirements, through education and training about their
obligations. The Compliance team implements compliance and enforcement responses
where there is suspected non-compliance by providers with the NDIS Act 2013, NDIS rules
and the NDIS Code of Conduct.

**Key duties**
Compliance Officers will be part of a state-based team. In this role you will:
Work with individual NDIS providers to assist them in understanding their
obligations, and where non-compliance may have occurred, guide them to address
those issues and risks.
Actively contribute to, and participate in, compliance promotion and education
campaigns to inform and educate NDIS providers, participants and the public about
the NDIS Commissioner’s functions and the requirements of relevant legislation
and rules.
Undertake enquiries, monitoring and analysis to develop compliance responses.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with a large and diverse
range of external stakeholders, including state and territory counterparts, service
providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate the work of the compliance function,
and the NDIS Commission more broadly.
Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence and corporate documentation,
including reports, briefings and submissions to support action by the NDIS
Commissioner.
Contribute to a learning culture where expertise can be appropriately shared.
Undertake a range of general administrative duties.
Engage in regular travel, where required.
