Job Description

**The role**
We are seeking a paralegal or clerk experienced in personal financial administration who is keen to work in a collegiate, fast paced environment.

The role will be approximately 3-5 days per week, pending your availability and will sit within our Private Clients team.

Our Private Clients lawyers specialise in all aspects of estate planning (including Wills and powers of attorney), deceased estate work (including administration and litigation) and combatting elder financial abuse.

Moores’ lawyers is are often appointed by VCAT as an Administrator, to run a Represented Person’s financial affairs, when they are unable to. Our lawyers are also appointed by clients from time to time at act as their financial Power of Attorney.

Essentially this role will assist running the financial affairs of the Represented Person or client; preparing and filing various financial reports with VCAT, managing taxation obligations, properties and all other aspects of their personal financial affairs.

The role requires sound legal administration skills, and responsibilities may include:

- Gathering a complete financial record of the Represented Person's or client’s affairs.
- Corresponding with a range of contacts of the Represented Person or client to ensure a complete picture of their current financial position is obtained.
- Obtaining the necessary documentation, including the payment of overdue bills and notifying the relevant financial institutions of Moores’ involvement.
- Creating and establishing a management plan for the Represented Person's or client’s financial affairs.
- Supporting the wider team with other admin tasks that come across your desk.

You are a team player who is proactive and client focused, works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

You will have strong client service skills and be able to build and maintain effective relationships.

A thorough understanding of Microsoft Word is required.
