The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the leadership, operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 21,000 students in 44 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, one K-12 school, one flexible learning centre and one special school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

Education Officer School Improvement will liaise with Regional School Advisors and their school communities with responsibility for:
1. Developing, supporting and embedding a school improvement model that:

- is aligned to system initiatives and delivers outstanding student formation and learning outcomes
- promotes a culture of review and reflection through coordinating, convening and shaping external and self-review continual school improvement (COSI) processes and their alignment with Annual School Visits.

2. Continued management of the school portal project including data monitoring of 58 school sites in collaboration with Regional Service Advisors.
3. Undertaking research and due diligence in order to provide appropriate professional development to schools in relation to compliance accountabilities and preparation for school reviews.
4. Working closely with Governance Officer Registration and Accreditation to support the oversight of policy development, implementation and review across the CSO and school system.

All Education Officers will be supported with ongoing professional learning and networking opportunities to improve their knowledge and professional capacity.

Professional practice and development processes for the role of Education Officer - School Improvement will be established and will include feedback mechanisms from line manager and relevant CSO and school staff.

**EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA**
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
- Demonstrated success in creating and leading effective professional learning that supports school leadership teams in preparing for and participating in a continual process of quality assurance, review and improvement
- A demonstrated capacity to develop and support leaders to plan and evaluate collaboratively with school colleagues and ensure alignment with CSO strategic planning and system priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to organise, initiate and drive change to ensure a culture of continuous improvement and streamlining of compliance
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully alongside school colleagues
- A sound knowledge of curriculum, the policy landscape, industry standards, compliance requirements and legislation relevant to the non-government education sector
- Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category C Accreditation for Leadership
- A demonstrated record of excellence in a leadership role in education over at least ten years or an equivalent combination of experience, training and achievement

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Four-year trained teacher classification with at least five years successful teaching experience
- Postgraduate qualifications at Masters level in education/ leadership
- Active NESA Accreditation
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Salary is in accordance with Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Employees Enterprise Agreement 2019.
