Posted: 27/11/2023- Closing Date: 10/12/2023- Job Type: Temporary- Location: Newcastle West- Job Category: Education, Childcare & TrainingThe Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is currently seeking a temporary part-time (0.2FTE) Librarian Mentor - Teacher to join the team in 2024 for 12 months.

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the leadership, operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 21,000 students in 44 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, one K-12 school, one flexible learning centre and one special school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

The Teacher Librarian Mentor works with Teacher Librarians in schools to advise and guide on the new requirements of the, to ensure Teacher Librarians work in collaboration with the school’s leadership team and with the CSO Digital Innovation and Learning (DIAL) team to act as a catalyst for change and build teacher capacity to improve student outcomes.

**EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA**
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
- Ability to support teacher librarians with their identification of appropriate professional goals to build their capacity.
- Ability to provide quality feedback to develop their professional practices as identified in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Provide appropriate professional development to meet the needs of school library staff.
- In collaboration with colleagues, plan, design and implement high quality professional learning and coaching programs to build the Teacher Librarian’s capacity and enhance Library skill teaching programs that improve student outcomes.
- Ability to effectively utilise data to assess and provide feedback and optimise educational outcomes

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Four-year trained teacher classification with at least five years successful teaching experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or Teacher Librarianship or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience: Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship), Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) or Master of Information Services (Teacher Librarian) or a willingness to enrol and complete within 4 years of employment
- Active NESA Accreditation
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
- Completion of anaphylaxis training
- Driver’s licence

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**

Salary is in accordance with Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Employees Enterprise Agreement 2019.
