- Well-developed oral communication skills, as well as sound written and report writing skills.
**Role**:
Community hubs are based in schools and collaborate with a support agency to engage with culturally diverse, disadvantaged communities across Australia. Every hub is different but works towards a common goal of building social cohesion in Australian communities through engaging culturally isolated families, building local connections and delivering formal and informal skills training. Hubs focus on supporting families to connect to opportunities in the early year's space, aiming to improve child development and school readiness as well as enhancing settlement outcomes. Hubs focus on partnerships that encourage existing services to deliver their projects at the hubs. Programming is tailored to each individual hub after consulting with families and with the support of the national network.
As our Community Hub Leader, your role will be to build relationships with the local community, school and local services. Working in partnership with the school, your support agency and local service providers, you will be responsible for coordinating a range of activities to support the community at the hub.
**Responsibilities**:
The importance of home/school partnerships is an integral part of school life. This is achieved through the participation of parents through a number of forums, which primarily include School Council, classroom assistance, fundraising, parent information and whole school events.
The establishment of the Community Hub will strengthen these partnerships and establish stronger links with the broader school community. As our Community Hub Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Creating a welcoming environment which encourages parents and their children to engage and become active in the hub.
- Building relationships with parents and the local community to help them discover their strengths, aspirations and needs.
- Plan activities in partnership with local service providers which align with the program outcomes framework. For example, setting up English language programs and playgroups. Planned activities will be informed by your consultations with community members.
- Supporting families to increase their knowledge of child development, parenting and settlement support by providing information sessions/programs at the hub. These should include skill development and capacity building activities.
- Building strong relationships within the school and supporting the school to be able to develop family participation in the early years and school readiness programs as well as the school's ability to support and respond to family needs.
- Advocate to local services on family needs and work in partnership with these organisations to make referrals or tailor programs that are delivered out of the school.
- Participate in hub leader meetings and professional development opportunities in the local government area.
- Complete regular reports and share lessons and case studies with your support agency/Community Hubs Australia.
- Participate and support evaluations of the program.

Individuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfil the specific requirements of this position are encouraged to apply.
A tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience within community development, education or early years would be beneficial but not required.
