About the role

We’re seeking an Environment Specialist to join our Victorian Environment Team to support the integration of the West Gate Tunnel Project into operations alongside our CityLink asset. You’ll join an innovative team, that works with every part of the business and strives for excellence in everything they do.

As our Environment Specialist, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape our people and the future of Melbourne and its communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

The team works with every part of the business, so you’ll need to be agile in how you think, share ideas and adapt your approach to suit each situation.

Day-to-day, you will:
Provide environmental advice as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the Transurban Victorian team, to support their ongoing implementation of environmental requirements, systems and processes-
- Verify that activities are undertaken in accordance with Transurban’s HSE Management System (HSEMS), environmental requirements and/or commitments. This includes future activities associated with the West Gate Tunnel Asset-
- Coordinate and oversee environmental monitoring programs, including management of specialist consultants/ contractors, reviewing data collected/ provided and reviewing contractor reports-
- Assist with all aspects of environmental inspections, audits, reporting and data management, including water quality, groundwater, road traffic noise, contaminated land and hazardous substances management, flora and fauna, waste management, cultural heritage, ambient and in tunnel air qualityThis role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Degree level qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering-
- Experience in incident investigation and HSE audit/ assurances processA solid background in liaison with Government agencies and Councils in relation to environmental issues, initiatives and compliance-
- Experience in development & implementation of environmental and/or integrated management systems documentationGreat communication and interpersonal skills - ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels-
