We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Specialist to join our team at the Department of Education VIC. As a Learning Specialist, you will play a critical role in modeling excellence in teaching and learning, and will be responsible for mentoring and coaching teachers to improve their practice.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Learning Expertise
- Develop and implement high-quality teaching and learning programs that promote improved student achievement, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Model exemplary classroom practice, including through teaching demonstration lessons and mentoring and coaching teachers.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice.
- Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
- Professional Learning and Development
- Develop and implement processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration.
- Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development.
- Student Support and Supervision
- Supervise and train one or more student teachers and mentor and/or coach teachers.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching and learning practice, including the ability to model exemplary classroom practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to support teachers to improve their practice.
