We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Manager of Pricing and Analytics. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Energy Markets & Policy Team, coaching and mentoring team members as well as contributing to the overall success of our business. Your expertise will be instrumental in analysing market price outlooks and demand trends, ultimately shaping the future value of both current and upcoming assets. Job Description
- Lead the analysis of price and demand trends across the various electricity markets across Australia
- Participate in revenue forecasting of existing and potential assets
- Manage external consultants to ensure external analytical support is fit for purpose
- Co-ordinate and inform the in-house perspectives on the future value of renewable energy and associated green products in various regions across Australia
- Work closely with the physical markets team to inform bidding strategies and portfolio optimisation
- Assist the business evaluate future development / M&A opportunities including preparing information for tender submissions and internal approval submissions
- Mentoring staff and actively participate in cross skilling
- Ad hoc analysis
- Assist the Physical Market Team by participating in a roster system for out of hours (weekend) market oversight
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and market participants.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders - in the Australian based business and Acciona Energy more broadly.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related role within the Australian energy industry.
- Familiarity with energy market models (such as Plexos or Prophet)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in analytical thinking and proficient in interpreting, querying, modelling, and evaluating datasets.
- Previous involvement in analysis, modelling, and reporting.
- Capability to establish a broad network of contacts.
- Proven strong analytical skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation capabilities.
- Familiarity with the NEM with exposure to other Australian energy markets considered advantageous but not mandatory.
- A strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the company.
- Undergraduate degree in a financial discipline such as economics, finance/accounting, mathematics, or engineering.
- Proficient in SQL as well as a coding language (VB, Matlab, Python, R etc)
- Post graduate degree is desirable.
