**Role Description/Criteria**

**OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE**

The Assistant Head of Campus - Student Wellbeing & Growth (AHoC - SWAG) is at the forefront of the implementation of our Mission and Vision as expressed in our Educational Strategic Plan. They set the direction for student wellbeing and success across all year levels on the Campus, ensuring every student’s opportunities for success are maximised.

Effective pastoral leadership explicitly connects student wellbeing with learning, positive student outcomes and success. At Padua College, the AHoC - SWAG guides and supports staff within their team of House Coordinators to ensure that every student’s experience is personal, enabling and formative.

The AHoC - SWAG reports to the Head of Campus and is a key member of the Pastoral Executive under the direction of the Vice Principal - Students. Two AHoC - SWAG positions will be appointed to the Campus. It is imperative that these staff members forge a strong partnership and work collaboratively towards a common goal of fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for our students. This collective effort also allows for the sharing of best practices and learning from one another's experiences and demonstrates to the students and staff the importance of teamwork, empathy, and community.

**MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

The AHoC - SWAG’s major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
i. guiding and supporting staff and students to create a learning environment and Campus culture that promotes student wellbeing and resilience;
ii. setting the professional standards for members of their team - supporting the performance of House Coordinators and homeroom teachers in their roles;
iii. as a member of the Pastoral Executive, and in consultation with the Director of Wellbeing Programs, actively supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care programs and procedures for all students on the Mornington Year 10-12 Campus;
iv. leading the implementation of the College’s Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct, and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety; and

v. performing other day-to-day duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
