**The Opportunity**

Visy is a global leader in packaging and resource recovery and has been a pioneer in sustainability since our inception. Utilising our unique closed loop systems, we collect and sort paper, cardboard, glass, plastics and metals from multiple streams, maximising recyclable content to be re-manufactured into valuable packaging and, in the process, reducing both reliance on natural resources and waste going to landfill.

We have an exciting role for a passionate IR/ER professional to join us and manage all IR aspects of an identified portfolio, ensuring that strategic and tactical outcomes are delivered in line with business requirements.

This role engages with the broader business on IR/HR people transformation projects & strategies impacted by industrial or legislative conditions, environment or contractual change, new business and/or project objectives. You will be entrusted to create, recommend, influence and ensure implementation of agreed employee activities that will provide significant financial, commercial and productivity benefits.

**The Role**

As the National IR Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating and delivering Industrial Relations business strategy, whilst ensuring compliance & governance. Reporting to the General Manager - Industrial Relations and based in Melbourne, you will work in collaboration with other National IR Managers on IR issues across the business.

**_ Other key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:_**
- Develop and contribute to industrial strategies pre and post enterprise agreement negotiations with the support of the relevant HRBP & IR Specialist to ensure favourable outcomes are achieved for the business.
- Lead Enterprise / Collective Agreement negotiations across a nominated portfolio and develop complex, long term strategies and plans intended to effect significant change in enterprise agreements in the interest of improving business performance, efficiency and profitability.
- Strong experience in representations before the Fair Work Commission during bargaining and/or dispute related matters. An exposure to the environment of FWC intervention and handling of complex negotiations.
- Appreciation for the changing face of Australian Industrial Relations legislation and how these changes will impact an Australian manufacture with a Unionized workforce.
- High level stakeholder management skills enabling management levels to understand and react to workplace bargaining.
- Participating in projects focused on continuous improvement along with coaching the frontline leaders to manager IR effectively.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or Employee Relations
- Knowledge and understanding of the I&ER environment in highly unionised manufacturing sites
- Wide experience with multiple unions (such as AMWU, TWU and AWU), is highly regarded
- Ability to influence multiple stakeholders, both internal & external
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships at all levels of the organization
