**Your Role**
An exciting opportunity to lead a team at the Aboriginal Housing Office developing high quality Aboriginal Housing policy to drive reform and directly contribute to better outcomes for Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities. High quality Aboriginal Housing policy will be person-centred, future-focused, evidence-based, and will fully consider implementation challenges keeping culture at the centre of our work.
You’ll lead a high-performing team within the Policy and Evidence Directorate, that works across all AHO teams, other government agencies, and external Aboriginal stakeholders.

**What you’ll do**
As the Manager Housing Policy, you will play a critical role in leading a team that is responsible for developing high quality social policy and innovation to drive reform that contribute to better outcomes for Aboriginal families, communities, and organisations.
In this role, you will undertake research and analysis, as well as lead a policy team and range of projects and policy services including analysis, consultation, evidence collation and strategic planning. The Manager will be responsible for leading high quality social policy that is impact focused and evidence based and embedded within a strong policy framework. Respectful engagement with Aboriginal housing sector partners, peak bodies and communities will be critical to effective policy development and implementation to achieve reform and address Housing challenges.
**What we’re looking for**
Ideally, you will have proven experience in the strategic Aboriginal Housing policy development, as well as current knowledge of legislation and policy settings which impact Aboriginal housing in NSW for communities and the Aboriginal Housing sector. You will have a solid background in project management, with the ability to manage a range of policies and review systems to ensure projects meet deadlines.
Additionally, you will have strong negotiation and consultation skills, liaising with diverse stakeholders across the whole of Government and Aboriginal communities. The role will also oversee the effective implementation of policy with sector partners and operational teams to ensure policy outcomes are monitored and achieved.

- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socio-economic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society
- A thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy developments in NSW and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use
- Strong ability to interpret complex policy landscapes and issues and develop and translate policy to effect change and desired impact.
- Ability to effectively manage and deliver on time, high volumes workloads, often in short deliverable timeframes
- This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role._
