Are you passionate about enhancing recognition & inclusion, and helping to promote opportunities for under-represented cohorts of students? We are seeking an accomplished, energetic engagement officer to join us in this exciting new role.

STEM Together is a national 5-year program delivered by CSIRO in partnership with the BHP Foundation, which aims to increase inclusion and participation of under-represented, high-potential students in STEM. The program services students in Years 5 to 10, and the people and communities who support them. The program particularly focuses on providing opportunities for students who live in regional and remote locations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, female identifying students, and students attending schools with a below average ICSEA score.

The Engagement Officer role will focus on delivering and growing the program and will be responsible for promoting, engaging, and supporting involvement by diverse cohorts of students, teachers, community members as well as schools and industry participants in the program. The role will involve the development, operational facilitation, and delivery of a range of resources, workshops and activities for teachers and students, and events to promote and support industry professionals, teachers and organisations involved in the program.

The Engagement Officer will also assist with recruitment and liaise with partner organisations and support their participation in the program.

**Your duties will include**:

- Delivering program activities in close collaboration with internal and external program teams; engaging with diverse cohorts of students, teachers, schools and other organisations to enable them to join the program.
- Building strong relationships with participating schools and the community to provide the support they need to participate effectively.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and coordinate activities for students, including face to face and virtual workshops, guest events, site visits and other experiences.
- Developing learning materials and resources for the program, including event and training materials.
- Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed team, and business unit to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO scientific objectives.

**Salary**: AU$89,860 to AU$101,459 pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

**To be considered you will need**:
**Essential**
- Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.- A qualification in education, outreach, STEM or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience with the development and facilitation of training for teachers, coupled with experience developing and/or delivering STEM programs for students.
- Highly developed stakeholder management and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain strong and productive relationships and networks with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated project coordination skills and experience in managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines, as well as the ability to demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and flexibility.
- High level problem solving and judgment skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and manage risks and to develop evidenced-based appropriate solutions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with proven experience giving presentations and writing reports for a range of stakeholders and audiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of how to work safely with children.

**Desirable**:

- Strong understanding of issues facing schools in relation to STEM education and industry participation.
- Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in educational settings.
