Shangri-La Sydney is the city's leading luxury hotel. Located in the historic Rocks district between the Sydney Opera and Harbour Bridge, our hotel offers 564 spacious and inspired luxury guests’ rooms and suites, four food & beverage outlets and 18 functions rooms.
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Manager to drive sales revenue and expand our business in the Australasia property, covering Sydney, Cairns, and Fiji. This role will focus on the corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segments in Australia and New Zealand.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Directly reporting to the Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Australasia and Director of Sales, Sydney.
Planning
To act within the policies of the Group and within the agreed budget. To accomplish these objectives/targets as approved in the annual SLSN / SLMC / FIJ Marketing Plan, as well as own personal targets as agreed with the ADOSM and DOS per property.
Sales
In accordance with the sales action plan, actively sell and promote all Shangri-La Hotels Australasia to Corporate FIT accounts, Direct Corporate MICE, Wholesales and Leisure.
Prospect to establish new accounts through Agency 360/Sales Navigator etc.
Plan and conduct sales call and telephone calls on all designated accounts.
To organize and coordinate sales visits, prioritizing markets for solicitation to the property’s needs, assisting with planning and programming of promotional functions and promotion specials.
Attend tradeshows and other local functions to increase the exposure for Shangri-La Australasia.
Maintain and seek out new business opportunities, developing further business.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with airlines, DMCs, NTOs etc., within the region and actively seek opportunities for business promotions to the trade and consumer with these colleagues.
Seek out new and better ways to improve our efforts to stay ahead of the competition.
Use all sources of potential lead information to prospect for new business
Assist other sales colleagues in the office with any client-related activities, promotions etc.
Communicate promotional opportunities, competitors’ activities, and general observations on market
Make recommendations to the ADOSM and to DOS on each property for any changes in the sales strategy felt necessary to enhance more business.
To achieve and exceed sales goals as set out in yearly Goal Performance Reviews
Monitor accounts’ production and prepare critiques, in the process offer solution to improve sales production.
Conduct Quarterly Reviews with corporate customers
Maintain the highest standard of professionalism, ethics and attitude towards clients and colleagues.
**General /Administrative**:
Ensure all Salesforce activities are input by COB at the end of each week and effectively updated and managed
Follow procedures and systems set-up for workload flow
Assist with yearly marketing report/budget as required
**Qualifications**:
At least 3 years’ experience in a regional hotel or GSO sales role
Knowledge of all the Shangri-La Group hotels and resorts globally.
Good knowledge of relevant geographic regions, Asia, North America, Europe, Middle East and India
Demonstrate hands-on leadership skills that exemplify a high sense of commitment, integrity, teamwork and honesty that will develop sales and support staff.
Excellent planning and follow-up skills
Strategic thinker who can interact with all levels of management with internal and external customers in a friendly and positive manner.
Personal computer knowledge mandatory (Lanyon, Salesforce, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel).
Self-motivated, detail orientated sales professional who can work independently.
Teamwork and proven ability to productively interact with GSO management.
