The role of Donor Relations is to enhance and deepen long-term, collaborative relationships with donors to Deakin and to provide direct connections between our donor’s personal philanthropy and the mission, vision, and principles of the university. Our goals are to recognise donors in meaningful ways, and to involve donors in the impact of their giving.

The Donor Relations Associate is responsible for the delivery of donor & alumni events as well as communication activities specific to the strategic pillars of Acknowledgement, Recognition, Stewardship, and Engagement.

The team is in a growth phase, and there will be an opportunity for a continuing full-time position with the Donor Relations team following the parental leave cover.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Deliver events end to end from creation to implementation and through to follow up and evaluation for all planned and ad-hoc Donor Relations events.
- Prepare and maintain donor materials, in support of excellent donor acknowledgment, stewardship and recognition.
- Plan and prioritise work, and critical activities appropriately, and recognise barriers to achieving outcomes, find effective ways to deal with them and evaluates progress.
- Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support.
- Build new and productive relationships with a diverse range of potential students, stakeholders, or key and influential individuals both inside and outside the University.
- Strive for excellence and consult regularly with colleagues to clarify who requires the information, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required.

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent, combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Experience in a fundraising environment.
- Experience with Donor, Alumni, Student, HR or similar complex relationship management databases.
- Experience in event management including preparation of high-end documentation to deliver University events such as comprehensive event briefings, orders of proceedings, speaker request forms and critical paths.
- Experience working in an environment which dictates high standards of project management.
- Experience/proficiency in InDesign (essential)
- Experience working in higher education or in a larger complex organisation (preferred)
