**The Role**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced communications professional for a casual full-time contract until December, with the possibility of extension for the next two years.
This role involves leading community engagement for government road infrastructure projects in the district.
Your responsibilities include offering ongoing strategic communications advice to project managers and devising effective communication strategies. You'll also be responsible for stakeholder management and consultation with various interest groups.
Key Accountabilities:
- Coordinate community engagement efforts for government road infrastructure projects, advising project managers on strategic communications and implementing communication strategies.
- Develop stakeholder management strategies and engage with diverse interest groups.
- Provide communication guidance and support to the District Director, managers, and staff, covering media and issues management, risk assessment, community engagement, and communication strategies using appropriate tools.
- Manage the creation of communication materials, including engagement plans, media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, and speech notes for district projects.
- Plan and oversee essential communication activities, such as road commissioning, launches, media opportunities, and other events.
- Lead stakeholder engagement meetings with the support of technical project team members.
- Offer training, advice, and support to district staff and consultants to enhance communication skills and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and the community for project delivery.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, activities, procedures, and policies to help the district achieve its strategic objectives.
- An experienced communications professional who can quickly take on and lead a project.
- Prior experience in infrastructure or civil construction is ideal.
- You should possess excellent face-to-face engagement skills and be confident in leading meetings with various stakeholders, including property owners, business owners, local communities, and government officials, even when discussing challenging topics related to property impacts.
- Strong written communication skills are essential, and occasional district-wide travel may be required, with very rare overnight stays.
