As an integral member of the Merchandising Team, you will be responsible for purchasing malting barley for BMAP’s Australian assets in line with regional and global strategy. You will also assist in gathering market intelligence, identifying risks and opportunities to accurately execute the raw material purchasing strategy, and contribute to purchase/sales strategy development, supply chain optimization and risk management to realize regional merchandising earnings targets.

As our Barley Merchant, your activities will include:

- **Supply Chain Optimization - **Managing sourcing, scheduling, and logistics of all inbound barley origination into BMAP Australian facilities in accordance with the S&OP plan.
- **Purchasing - **Establishing short
- and long-term supply of malting barley directly from malting barley growers and traders. Providing astute pricing and contracting arrangements that appropriately assign and balance risk.
- **Quality Assurance & Variety Development - **Analysing and reporting on barley varieties, quality factors and concerns within the Malt team. Proactively sourcing barley samples and following up with technical and operations about suitability. You will also serve as the company representative in malting barley supplier variety programs and support supplier acceptance (or not) in coordination with Regional Merchandising Manager and Quality Manager.
- **Market Analysis & Risk Management - **Understanding and ensuring all middle office policy requirements are being met. Identifying barley commercial risk and opportunities and presenting to Regional, and global, Merchandising Managers. Accurate Position Management, and cost attribution.
- **Sustainability -** Developing programs to meet Boortmalt’ s sustainability goals in relation to farming.

Profil / Compétences requises Master recherché

With relevant experience in a commercial, supply chain or merchandising environment, you will bring with you:

- Commercial understanding of commodity (preferable grain) market dynamics, supply chains and customers;
- Demonstrated ability to build up fundamental analysis models to assist in purchasing and sales strategies;
- Strong and effective communication skills across a broad range of internal stakeholders and external customers;
- Proven ability to think independently and act decisively;
- PNL attribution and mark-to-market;
- Understanding of crop agronomy and sustainability factors on farm;
- Stakeholder management and communication, and ability to influence at all levels;
