The Procurement Category Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering Victoria 2026’s procurement strategy by overseeing the sourcing process, developing and executing category strategies, identifying and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and building strong relationships with suppliers.

The Commonwealth Games - an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the 72 member nations of the Commonwealth - is coming to Victoria in 2026.

Millions worldwide will watch the thriving regional centres of Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton host a jam-packed schedule of 20 sports, nine para sports, the Games ceremonies and festival program that together will showcase the best of Regional Victoria.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Victoria 2026) will deliver the Games. Together between the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia, it is tasked with organising a world-class event for athletes, spectators, locals and the Commonwealth of Nations.

**About the Role**

We have multiple roles available for Procurement Category Managers to join our Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games procurement team

As a Procurement Category Manager, you will be responsible for:

- Managing or supporting a portfolio of procurements to meet time, budget, quality and resource parameters in accordance with good professional practices, legislative requirements, Victorian Government Procurement frameworks and polices, and Victoria 2026's Procurement Strategy, policies and procedures
- Provide specialist advice on complex procurements including procurement led elements of sponsorship and procurement strategy options, evidenced by best practice examples or fit for purpose examples
- Lead and assist in the effective negotiation of tenders to secure goods and services on the most advantageous value for money terms, via procurement strategies or value in kind sponsorship deals
- Contribute to the maintenance of management reporting systems to track and manage procurement activities at project and functional level

**To be successful in this role, you will**:

- Have an understanding of procurement principles, practices and techniques
- Have proven experience in developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships and overseeing procurement processes
- Have an understanding of one or more relevant procurement categories for the Commonwealth Games (including but not limited games operations and services, marketing and communications, ceremonies and festivals, employees and volunteers, commercial activities and construction)
- Have a thorough understanding of relevant procurement regulations, policies, and procedures
