The Commonwealth Games - an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the 72 member nations of the Commonwealth - is coming to Victoria in 2026.

Millions worldwide will watch the thriving regional centres of Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Gippsland and Shepparton host a jam-packed schedule of 20 sports, nine para sports, the Games ceremonies and festival program that together will showcase the best of Regional Victoria.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Victoria 2026) will deliver the Games. Together between the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia, it is tasked with organising a world-class event for athletes, spectators, locals and the Commonwealth of Nations.

**About the Role**

We have multiple roles available for Assistant Procurement Category Managers to join our Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games procurement team

The role will support the Director Procurement and Director of Supply Chain with the delivery of the procurement pipeline. This is a hands-on role which encompasses the full spectrum of tender activities from supporting or leading on strategy development to contact award. It requires a person with a background in procurement and experience in contract management.

As an Assistant Category Manager, you will be responsible for:

- Managing or supporting a portfolio of procurements to meet time, budget, quality and resource parameters in accordance with good professional practices, legislative requirements, and Victoria 2026's Procurement Strategy, policies and procedures
- Assisting in the effective negotiation of contracts to secure goods and services on the most advantageous value for money terms, via procurement strategies or value in kind sponsorship deals
- Providing guidance to functional areas, suppliers and vendors on Victoria 2026 procurement approach and policies

**To be successful in this role, you will**:

- Have an understanding of procurement principles, practices and techniques
- Have experience in contributing to procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, building supplier relationships and supporting or leading procurement processes
- Have an understanding of one or more relevant procurement categories for the Commonwealth Games (including but not limited to games operations and services, marketing and communications, ceremonies and festivals, employees and volunteers, commercial activities and construction)
