**About your exciting role**

The **Response & Connection Practitioner** is a crucial role as it is the primary point of contact for victim-survivors seeking specialist support from the Victims of Crime Community Response service (VOCCR). The Response & Connection Practitioners will provide immediate and trauma-informed support through triage, crisis counselling, practical necessities, and referrals to successfully and safely meet the individual's needs within the first 72 hours.

As a Response & Connection Practitioner, your key responsibilities include actioning referrals for eligible victims of crime and their immediate family, delivering immediate assistance following an act of violence, coordinating emergency transport and accommodation, and addressing basic needs such as food, clothing, safety upgrades, and other practical aid.

In addition, you are required to case-manage priority assistance, collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, respond compassionately to victims of crime, and identify ways to continually improve services. Participation in stakeholder networks and meetings is invaluable, as it supports the delivery of the pilot program and promotes the work of the VictimConnect service.

**What you will bring (role requirements)**
- Tertiary Qualification (minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or relevant field - required.
- Professional experience in the social and community sector - highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience working with people who have been impacted by violence and an understanding of a trauma-informed approach is required.
- Significant demonstrated ability to manage complex and competing tasks within agreed timeframes including planning, implementation, and coordination of practical support or case management.
- Exceptional and effective interpersonal communication skills using a range of contemporary engagement practices.
- Significant demonstrated experience navigating sensitive situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Quality, timeliness, and accuracy in presentation of work (data entry).
- Highly competent IT skills.

**Additional requirements**

- Positive paid Blue Card and current National Police Check or the ability and willingness to obtain.
- Right to work in Australia.
