About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Family Connection Practitioner or Specialist to join our team at ATSICHS Brisbane. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with children, young people, families, elders, community, and stakeholders to increase family safety, support, and reunification options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-Led Decision-Making (ATSIFLDM) that honours the family's voice, right to self-determination, and safe connection to family, community, and culture.
  • Case management and care coordination.
  • Work in partnership with Child Safety.
  • Interpret and apply the Child Protection Act 1999, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles, the Human Rights Act 2019, and other associated legislation.
  • Assessments around children and family needs, risk, and safety.
  • All administrative and compliance tasks related to the role.
Requirements
  • The ability to connect and quickly build rapport with vulnerable children and their families.
  • Certificate IV/Diploma/Bachelor in Community Services or related field.
  • Case management experience 3+ years preferred.
  • Knowledge of Qld Child Protection Act 1999 or ability to obtain.
  • Natural advocacy skills, promoting cultural understanding, human rights, and self-determination.
  • A valid Blue Card, Driver's License, Police Check.
  • Value a deadly team culture.
