**The Role**
As an EL1 Assistant Director, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex procedural, operational, administrative and business management work within an integrated workforce, which will require an in-depth knowledge of ministerial and media coordination, as well as knowledge in the business management functions within a Branch to manage day to day administrative functions.
An EL1 Assistant Director will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. They will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. They will have in-depth knowledge of the administration function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function. They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
**About our Team**
The EL1 Assistant Director - Business and Executive Support within Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. They will exercise sound decision making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. They will have in-depth knowledge of the administration function and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that function. They will engage in complex to very complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence.
An EL1 Assistant Director is accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources to achieve business outcomes. They will manage one or more teams. They will develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review individual, team and business performance. They will set work that align with the strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes.
The Assistant Director leads a small, high performing team within a high tempo, urgent to medium turnaround environment, supporting Branch Ministerial and Media responses, Government approvals, and other related tasking’s. As such, the role will suit individuals who can effectivity maintain sound planning and organisational practices to a high standard.
Further to the coordination role, the position is also responsible for managing the team regarding Branch business management, reporting directly to the Director of Business and Executive Support. This responsibility provides the support to maintain Resource Management (with support from the program cell), as well as branch day to day administration operations, Operational Budget, asset management, training and event planning for branch wide activities. An understanding of these practices are desirable.
